Trevon Mitchell has a Kingmaker story worth telling.

"Now I'm going to be the first to graduate high school. I'm going to be the first to go to college and graduate because I will manifest that."

At Kingmakers of Oakland, we know the truth: our young Kings are brilliant, bold, and built for greatness. But let’s be real — the systems around them weren’t made with their success in mind.
Too often, Black boys are criminalized instead of cultivated. Overlooked instead of uplifted. They remain some of the most under-resourced and over-surveilled students in this country. But we see them clearly — as the genius, joy, and leadership this world has been waiting for.
KOO exists because the old way was never meant for us. So we’re building something new.
We’re not just changing narratives — we’re changing systems.
Through our Crowns Curriculum, media labs, cultural events, and national partnerships, we’re carving out real pathways for Black boys to dream big, love themselves loud, and lead with confidence.
Healing is the heartbeat. Culture is the compass. Youth voice leads the way.
What starts with our Kings echoes out to schools, families, communities — and the world.
In just the past few years, we’ve:
Served over 5,000 students — and counting
Trained 500+ educators in culturally grounded, liberatory practice
Produced dozens of original films, animated shorts, and literacy projects
Shared Crowns Curriculum in 10+ cities nationwide
Sparked policy conversations at the local and national level
But this moment calls for more. The need is growing — and so is our vision.
As we close out the year, we’re calling on our community to help us sustain the momentum and scale our impact into 2026 and beyond.
🎯 Our goal: Raise $50,000 this Fall Giving Season
Here’s how you can move the mission forward:
Give what you can. Every single dollar makes a difference.
Spread the word. Share this campaign with your people — far and wide.
Tell your story. Share why KOO matters to you, your child, your community.
This movement is real. And it’s working. We’re not just changing narratives — we’re changing systems.
But we can’t do it alone.
Because when we lift our Kings — we lift the world.
🙏🏾 Thank you for building with us.
